Let me share one of my “seeking the approval of others” stories with you which costed me a year!

You see, in 2013, God gave me the inspiration to start retreats for busy mums/women but then I told a friend and she didn’t think anyone would attend..”who would want to leave their children for a weekend”. That totally made sense to me at the time so I followed her advice. For a year I sat on it and decided to do day events (SWM LIVE) instead.

I felt the nudge in my spirit again, so early 2014 I got some courage to approach the ladies in the SWM community and 19 women came for the first retreat in June 2014. In fact the retreat sold out in 2 weeks. I was totally blown away!

Even though fear and the approval of others stopped me for a whole year, I am so glad I finally obeyed the calling. God is merciful.

Yes the SWM LIVE events I organised in 2013 and 2014 were great and people were blessed but deep down I knew this was not what God told me to do. I was deflated after both events and I wondered why till it clicked that I had gone off a tangent to do my own thing. No wonder!

Now I no longer run live events… I am focused on what God has called me to do which is the weekend retreats until he tells me otherwise.

The retreats have transformed lives and I can only give glory to God. This past weekend, we held our sixth retreat in the UK by His grace. It was an amazing time in God’s presence and the feedback has been very positive.

We all learned strategies on how to pray effectively from our guest speaker. I also shared practical tips on how to wake up early to spend time with the Lord. We also had a bonfire night, with lots of singing, encouraging each other and marshmallows!

So …is there anything God has told you to do but because of fear or lack of approval from others you have decided not to do it?

I encourage you now to DO IT. Just DO IT. No one was there when God told you what to do so why are you seeking approval from others? Why are you allowing the fear of man stop you from walking in your destiny?

There are people waiting for the manifestation of your calling. People who God wants to bless by the assignment he has given you.

Are you going to align yourself to God’s calling or do you want God to ask someone else to do it? Don’t be like the wicked servant in the parable of the talents who hid his one talent.
