I was sent a Joy and Joe baby wrap by the creators to review just after I had my baby. I love the story of how the product came about and was very happy to review the wrap.
Read on to know what I thought about this joy and joe baby wrap.
I was very excited when my wrap came in the post. The wrap was nicely packaged and they sent it to me in purple , which happens to be my favorite colour (they had asked me what colour I wanted and I said any dark colour)! There were instructions in the packaging, which was a big plus.
The wrap is soft, stretchy and is 100% cotton. It is also very long! I guess this is probably to accommodate any body shape and size.
The first time I tried to use the wrap, I found it a bit hard and complex to wear. I guess I was comparing it to how we wrap and carry babies back home in Nigeria, which I find much simpler. I followed the instructions with the help of my mum but didn’t quite get it right as it didn’t feel snug and secure when I put baby in. I didn’t worry about it, as I know doing something for the first time can be hard.
I then decided to go to their youtube channel to watch the how-to videos as I learn faster when I watch instructions than when I read. Viola! It was so much easier this time around and I didn’t need extra help to set wear the wrap. It also felt secure unlike the first time I used it where I felt Professor J (that’s my baby’s nickname ;)) was going to fall off!
Prof J totally loved it. He was all snuggled up and promptly fell asleep the first time I carried him with the wrap. The next time I used it was when I was going for his health visit check up. Everyone at the clinic kept awing and owing. They complemented the wrap especially the colour and how cosy it looked.
This is a picture of me using my joy and joe baby wrap. See how cosy Prof J looks!
I also loved the fact that I could keep Prof J close to me for skin to skin contact. The wrap isn’t cumbersome at all and is not heavy to wear unlike some other baby carriers in the market.
Using a baby wrap has a lot of benefits. You can wear it indoors or outdoors. I love that I can wear Prof J and still have my hands free to attend to his older sister Bionic or to do my other chores.
Another thing I love about the wrap is that you can actually nurse your baby discretely whilst using it. I tried nursing Prof J and it was rather easy to do.
If you like reading instructions then you may find it less complex than I did to follow but I’ll just say watch the video instructions as they are more easily to visualise how to wrap your baby.
Joy and Joe Baby Wraps can be worn from birth till the baby is about 16kg. With practice, wearing Joy and Joe Baby Wraps gets easier. It is a product I will highly recommend to new mums because of the enormous benefits. It would also serve as a nice gift to buy for a new mum. The price is affordable and is good value for your money.
