Work Related Stress is very common especially for mothers who have to manage both work/business and home. I personally think some level of stress in a working mum’s life is ok as it pushes her out of her comfort zone.
However once it exceeds that “normal” stage it can be detrimental. Being stressed can take its toll on your health. It can also affect your relationship with your husband and children.
In this blog post I share some ways on how to identify work related stress. We all know a stressed mum is a cranky mum and she could be awkward to be around. However a stressed free mum is a happy mum!
As a super working mum in the making, one of my goals is to live a life with minimal stress. I have realised that when I am stressed in my work I usually end up taking it out on my husband and children.
Is a stress free life possible you may ask? I strongly believe so. Anything is possible to those who believe! 😉
I have outlined below the causes of work related stress and how to identify if you are experiencing stressed. By making a mental note of your stress triggers you can address it and curb it quickly.
Causes of Work Related Stress
Here are some causes of work related stress whether on the day job or in your business.
- Juggling so many things at the same time- even though women are said to be able to multitask better than men, trying to juggle many things at the same time e.g working on a presentation, writing an email or answering the phone at the same time sometimes result in getting nothing done as you keep getting distracted which can cause stress.
- Inadequate skill set- Working on a task not within your skill set
- Handling a heavy workload on a daily basis
- Being under pressure to meet deadlines
- Not saying no to the several demands placed on our time
- Not understanding what is expected from you on a given task
- Having poor time management and organisational skills
- Procrastinating and leaving your tasks till the last minute
- Poor working conditions such as having a bad chair, too much noise, bad lightning or the temperature of the air-conditioning
- Clutter
- Getting harassed or bullied by colleagues and/or clients
- A poor relationship with colleagues and/or clients
- Feeling unfulfilled at work
- Constant lack of sleep
- Tiff with husband or children at home
- Lack of essential vitamins e.g Vitamin D in your body

I think your number one cause of multi-tasking is so very true. When we multi-task we are not doing a good job in either area AND we are not enjoying the moment. Even in our work, we are to enjoy each moment and when we don’t, we get stressed. I loved all the truthful tidbits you exposed here. Thanks so much, Amy
Thanks for stopping by @amyhagerup:disqus
Great article! I really don’t agree with women being multitaskers… I’ve never seen anyone doing anything well multitasking. So much is stolen from us because women have bought that lie. Jesus was highly focused. He did one thing at a time. We are created in his image. Buy the truth women and live.
You are right @davidayemiakanle:disqus ! We should aim to be like Jesus who was highly focused and not believe the lie or mulitasking…it only distracts us. Thank you
Our brain is not truly capable of multi-tasking. We can only ever be paying attention to one thing at a time, so multi-tasking is a misnomer. And the Bible says that whatever you do, do it all as if to the Lord. So I want my focus to be fully on the task He has put before me. When we seek ye first the kingdom of God, then much of the stress goes away! Thanks for the reminder!
You are so right @drmichellebengtson:disqus, our brains can truly not mulit task. and thats for reminding us about that bible verse. Very apt!
Focus! Focus! Focus! has been my watch word from late last year. I shut down many things, stay focused on one thing and living the life. I really don’t believe in multitasking if at all it exist, i feel people just switch tasks.
