How To Deal With Fatigue During Pregnancy- 8 Tips!

Go To Bed Early

During pregnancy your body needs constant rest so aim to go to bed earlier than you usually do. Even if you can’t sleep just lie down in bed.

Still on resting, take regular breaks at work. 15-20 mins power naps at work in ur car or a quiet area will also help you deal with fatigue.

Eat Healthy

Remember garbage in, garbage out. What you eat has a direct impact on how you feel, so aim to eat healthy & energy boosting foods.

Stay Hydrated

We tend to underestimate the power drinking water has and the benefits it provides to our bodies. However try to cut down on the amount you drink in the evening so you don’t end up waking up frequently to use the bathroom

Light Exercise

This may seem counter intuitive but has been proven to actually make you feel better and deal with fatigue. Try taking short walks during the day.

Increase Your Iron Intake

If your irons are low you will feel tired. To deal with fatigue eat foods that are iron enriched such as red meat, spinach. Take iron supplements if necessary

Adjust Your Schedule and Expectation

Don’t expect too much from yourself during this time. The housework can wait so take it easy.

Get some HELP. Get a cleaner to help with cleaning if you can afford it. Get friends to cook or get a caterer to cook in bulk for you so u can store in the freezer. Also get your spouse to help out in the house.

If you are at home with other children, try to nap when they nap. Also try not to plan too many activities with them. The time for that will come. Don’t feel bad if they watch more TV then you ideally want them too. Get educational programs and apps for them to play with. Or let them learn to play by/with themselves to spike their creativity. Also get them to do simple chores around the house, depending on their age of course.

Take It One Day At A Time

I cannot over emphasize this point. Take it easy with the chores, errands and even work. When your body tells you to rest, rest. Do not overexert yourself. This period will soon pass and you should be back to your normal self.

Talk To A Professional

If you are experiencing depression or extreme sadness then please talk to your midwife. Also try not to stay isolated and ask for support from trusted friends and your spouse.

Remember this phase is only for a short while, and soon your bundle of joy will be here with you. And a whole new chapter will begin 🙂
